About
Hello! My name is Rachel, and I’m a Licensed Psychologist in California (PSY 31126) and Colorado (PSY .0006475). I earned my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, where I also earned a certificate in LGBTQ+ mental health. During my years of clinical training, I worked in residential, community clinic, and school settings serving youth and adult populations experiencing mental illness, trauma, and substance use issues. I especially enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, and have a special interest in supporting folks around all aspects of queer family building.

While I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, I primarily practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a form of depth therapy which emphasizes the role of the unconscious mind, the therapeutic relationship, and uncensored exploration of thoughts and feelings. This form of therapy can help you gain insight into unconscious patterns and conflicts, heal repressed memories and traumas, improve self-awareness and emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Because our internal psyche is informed by our lived experiences, I also focus on the various systems and social forces that impact our personal struggles. That said, I always aim for our work to feel collaborative and tailored to your specific needs.

I live and work in Oakland (the ancestral and unceded land of the Ohlone and Chochenyo) where I enjoy photography, being outdoors, tending to my ever-growing houseplant collection, and spending time with family and friends.
